The Leather Oaks Garden -- 2004 Hurricane IvanLeather Oaks, Windswept but Triumphantly Green! |
This Page Created on January 28th, 2008 |
I spent the day that Hurricane Ivan came ashore with my sister in East Alabama. Tried to rent a car to drive home the next day, unsuccessfully. A friend drove up to get me, so it was way after midnight getting home.
When I did get up and out of doors, this is what I saw. Actually, I rather like the windswept look, as long as I don't have to endure the wind! |
Well, this will definitely qualify as "windswept"! Looks like we'll have to brush through the Chinese bamboo to walk up this way. I wonder how my Schematic stream made out? |
Well, the Schematic stream was spared, but you won't be able to tell that from this photo. It appears that some bamboo trimming will be in order! |
Walking around the other side of the house, my Magic Tunnel appears to be rather densely impeding! Sure hope there is a way through this stuff. |
Looks like we can get through the main path. This area doesn't look too much wilder than usual! |
Golly! I'm not sure exactly where we are! This should be the path to take us up to Neptune's Knoll, but it seems almost impenetrable. Let's push on a little further, maybe move a few of these pine boughs out of the way. |
Finally! It's good to see a friendly, albeit concrete face! |
