Beyond the Briars Rail Progress

With the sudden change to warm weather here in mid February, it seemed a great time to continue rail laying! Our crew seems to be exulting in the capability of the Train Li rail bender: It appears that they have strung together two or three track sections awaiting operation of that magical tool. This first photo was taken just South of the Bronze Trio Pond near the beginning of the Phase V-B trackage.

Tracklaying and bending continues.

With such a long run of track and not a whole lot of obstructions, the rail laying crew soon developed a rhythm. They would bend a couple yards of track ahead, then stop and fasten that length in place. This photo covers roughly the second such length, as the track begins heading for the East Fence.

At the location of the rail bender, the track is once again turning North. By now, the crew had strung four sections of track since beginning work today. Not bad for not starting until well after noon!

Off the left of this photo is Neptune's Knoll! This fourth section of track reaches almost behind that aquatic feature.

The photo at left shows the track layed from just past the Bronze Trio northward.

Looking Back to the Bronze Trio!

The winter is probably the best time to view this line. The ferns are all burned down by frost, most of the briars are under control (note to Chief Arborist, bring gloves!) and the bamboo is not growing too fast. Weather permitting, will the crew complete the Beyond the Briars trackage tomorrow?
